Office Boredom!

My creations @ the office... Yeah.. there are times when I get bored!! And writing comes to my rescue.. :)

Single
I smile shamelessly everyday
Flirt with the cute guy on my way
The Happy Feeling comes back to me
I feel lively, light and free

No longer am I answerable
What ended yesterday was quite a fable
Its time for new beginnings today
Time to let your hair down and play

More girl time is always recommended
Guys in the bar, don’t be offended ;)
Time to let go, get ready to mingle
Absolutely Happy that I am Single!

  Mumbai

Every Morning, a new energy is found
Money in pockets but feet on the ground
The value of time is more than money
Little time left for vacation or love honey

Life simply ceases to stop here
Weekend at Toto’s, unwind with a beer
Peace and tranquility at Land’s End
Crowded trains, little margin to mend

On Tuesdays Siddhivinayak calls religiously
The city finds solace on a basis weekly
Don’t have a car yet, no space to park
The dogs on the street don’t bite, only bark

So many people that you are never alone
For some self time, Marine Drive is the zone
Come monsoon, we revisit the romance
They flood each year w/o missing a chance

The war of the town and the suburbs goes on
But on a crisis day together we belong
The Taj reminds me of our resilience
Mumbai lives on, killing the silence..

Cheers to Marsh... :)

  2. Sophisticated technology employed at every step.
  3. Completely 'professional' in terms of people and staff.
  4. Work Phones (Blackberrys) to each employee.
  5. Flexi timings and low hierarchy, amazingly open place.
  6. Decent work. Not at all uninteresting. The least boring form of insurance :p
  7. People seem good, helpful but keep to themselves.
  8. Being an intern is fun and completely chillax! Do work and Have Fun!!
  9. The coffee/tea/biscuits/toasts in the pantry are a life-saviour!!
  10. I like it here. Somehow it fits and it fits well :) :)
Pssstt... the fact that they are paying me for working is AWESOME! :P

The Constant in Change

1988- I come in this world.
1991- Kinder Garden
1995- School
2004- Junior College
2006- Under Graduate
2009- Post Graduate
2010- MBA
2011- Summer Internship.....

These are some major changes that happened in my life till date. And with each one of this change the people in my life kept changing. Some friends stayed, some others moved on. Some became even more close. I met new people and worked with them.

But 10 months staying away from home, I realized that, whatever changes, there is one place that will always love you as much and always welcome you with open arms and will always treat you the same whether a prince or a pauper... Home. The constant factor in the change that our life is.

When I taught regression to my classmates, we used to easily ignore the constant in the equation and focus on the co-efficient. The change is what people normally focus on. I have to be ready for this change. Is my preparation enough? Am I capable of handling this change? Blah blah blah... But they take the constant for granted. And worse, they never appreciate it.

Home is that constant in anyone's life. How attached and how deeply embedded family values are, defines your core. People who follow the 'I am Ok. You are Ok.' line of thought usually come from a Happy Family. I always strongly disagree with people who say that XYZ is more important than family. Then that means You, my friend are messed up (or your home is).

We try to please the world and take for granted those who make us who we are. Take time off for them. Buy them gifts. Take them out to dinner. Laugh. Smile. Make them smile. Those jokes will become family jokes that only you and your siblings get. Play Dumb Charades of weird relatives. Play Antakshari. Appreciate the constant part of your life. The part that keeps you stable. The part of your life that you were born into and makes you unique.

Cheers to Happy Homes and Happy Families!

Second Love

Life is a bitch we all know
True colours people will eventually show
But love aint all that bad you see
So if you fail the first time, don't flee

You pray for another chance to love
You pray for another chance to be loved
And when the second love arrives
You pray for the love of all desires

The second time, you take more care,
No errors to happen, no details to spare
The chances of success are so much high
The doubts are laid to rest with a sigh

True love awaits you, give it a shot
The second time, maybe someone more hot! ;)
The first half wasn’t great, lets admit it!
Time for a better second half and living it

In this life, love deserves a second chance
We all learn from mistakes and thus enhance
Don’t disrespect the second chance given to you
Few people are lucky, this time, its you!

(Dedicated to the guy who wanted me to write positive and get that smile back on his face!)

A 23-year old drought that began in 1987 and kept ending fruitlessly every four years, finally gave India- a country of 1.21 billion people- its moment of glory. It all happened at the historic Wankhede Stadium here.
-          TOI

Asked for revenge for Dada's pain..and you gave it..
Asked for revenge for the nightmare of the burning Eden and you gave it..
Asked for a lifetime desire to see the World Cup in the hands of the person, who has been playing since the day I was born...and you gave it..
Asked for the chance to turn back and say: "Yes, Dhoni & Co"..for every "Yes, Kapil & Co" that I heard...and you gave it..
THANK YOU TEAM INDIA!!

For the last 21 years, he has shouldered the burden of the team. It is time we carried him on our shoulders.
-          Virat Kohli, Member of the ICC World Cup 2011 winning team

Sorry to disappoint you all. This is not for my girlfriend. It is for Sachin Tendulkar.
-          Yuvraj Singh, Member of the ICC World Cup 2011 winning team.

Emotions were running high. As soon as I hit the six, I was almost half way down the pitch and I thought I would grab the stumps at the non-striker’s end as souvenirs. But then I saw Yuvraj standing there and I was afraid he will grab that stump. I then told myself, forget hugging Yuvraj, let me grab a stump first. That confusion made me stand still in the middle of the pitch.
-          M S Dhoni, Captain, Indian Cricket Team, World Champions 2011.

As a kid, I always wanted to lift that World Cup trophy. All my cricket has been for that. On the way, several things have happened, several records and some achievements that have given me happiness. But this is the ultimate. The most proud moment of my career This world cup is for the entire nation. I am happy I could bring a smile to a billion people.
-          Sachin Tendulkar.

“Are there tears, in your eyes?” Tendulkar’s former Mumbai teammate Sanjay Majrekar, now a commentator, asked him. Tendulkar almost shied away, laughing. “I want to thank the team that made it possible. The support staff and particularly Mike Horn,” he said.
Dhoni, Zaheer, Yuvraj, Harbhajan, Virat – they all lined up next to him pointing fingers at Tendulkar to tell who they got inspired to win it for. Tendulkar just smiled.

The Hero

Tomorrow, the ICC Cricket World Cup comes to a close. It’s a fairly limited sport in terms of the number of nations that play test cricket. Barely any following if compared to football. But in those 10 nations and for the several followers across the world, there is one man, who has been there and done that. One man, in front of whom time stands still. 20 years and more, his peak never seems high enough.

He has several records to his name. There may be very few things he has not achieved as a batsman. 200 runs in a one day international match. His technique is simply flawless. Old school cricket lovers love him for his discipline and technical perfection. Those born in the era of ODIs and T20s love him for his shots and timing and plain brilliance on the field. Till he is there on the pitch, no opposing team can rest their guard down. His mere presence simply takes the pressure of the other 10 players of the Indian cricket team!

But there is more to him than that. Much more. The reasons as to why he is the national Hero of India are innumerable and countless. More than anything else, he is a role model. He is the person, mothers want their sons to grow up to be. Everyone simply RESPECTS him. Even when match fixing scandal rocked the cricket world, there was no blot on him. When he says that the Harbhajan did not say something derogatory, ICC and the world took him for his word. His standards of ethics are a benchmark.

He carries the hope of more than a billion people. He has been doing that for consistently more than 20 years. He is the reflection of the emerging economy that india is. Strong, resilient and confident. He doesn’t live a flamboyant lifestyle. He is the Great Indian Middle Class Dream. Humble roots and great achievements. That is the reason why people love him. Because he is one single man, who embodies all of this and who is still there.

And this is his last world cup. We know he wants to win it. His emotions may not show that, but we know it. The World Cup is the biggest and the missing trophy on his mantelpiece. His several team mates have grown up watching his game. They want to win it for him. More than a billion prayers will be there for him. And maybe it was destined that he wins it in his home. Mumbai will explode when its favorite son will give this nation the joy. The 100th century is nothing in comparison to winning it and winning it at home. Please team India, Lets Do it this time. The guy deserves this. Ohh wait… We refer to him as ‘God’. But he is best known as…

Sachin Tendulkar.
