Freedom to be yourself

As we celebrate 'freedom' today.. A question comes into my mind... The country got freedom 63 years ago... But do individuals in this society have freedom of being 'themselves'? I mean... most of us here are trying to fit in.. be a part of something or some group of people.. But isnt freedom supposed to mean that you can totally be yourself and not be embarrassed or not doing the 'in' thing!! Well here i list some notions that need not necessarily be conventional...
  • Guys can be cute and mushy.
  • Girls can detest shopping, jewelery, and dressing up.. (first hand experience!!)
  • Students can be responsible, careful and completely aware about the 'real' world.
  • Girls can dislike housework.
  • City girls are as 'traditional' as small town ones.
  • Fathers can show their feelings too.
  • Guys can dream about their dream weddings too.
  • Girls can enjoy heavy metal and rock.
  • Sisters can protect brothers.
  • Cousins can be cool too.
  • Friends for someone can be as good as or even better than family.
  • Having some time with your own self just doesn't imply loneliness.
  • Parties can be boring for some people.
  • Parents can be best friends too.
  • Fairy tales might just be real.
  • You can remain on good terms with an ex.

and several more...

To everyone, who has ever had something unconventional about themselves...' Lets be proud of who WE are... And lets live this happy life as the person we actually are.. rather than trying to be someone else who we are not and wont be happy being...

Cuz the people who love us... they do so for the person WE are right NOW!!

Happy Independence day fellas!!

Oh! For the love of Exams...

This post actually comes in the middle of my mid semester exam. here i am in a hostel full of people who are just mugging their way to exams. I should've realised that even though i am in a professional management course, people here are the same fellows who've mugged their way all through exams in life. What gave me the right to expect people to understand and write stuff?!?!?!? I mean, they havent done it all life, why do they need to do it now...? Fair enough. valid question. why now..??

The answer i believe is that, you took this course up by choice... and when it is your choice, your 'doing-it-for-the-heck-of-it' attitude is just not what it ought to be. But they say that some subjects are of our choice, the others are not. But they all are instrumental to us learning how actually things happen in the real business world

Still, I would actualy peg that students dont make an effort to understand everything:
1. Teachers don't bring in a perspective where the student can relate to it.
2. Students want to stay focused, and just be good at whatever they are good at.
3. We've been groomed right from day one to 'study' things from an exam perspective only.

I wish, students could enjoy the life of being a student... Look at exams as if its 'just another thing' and not a 'do or die' thing... Exams were just an evaluation tool and not a memory meter.. And i wish, how everyone could just love studying.. the pleasure of knowing more about the subject, one is so fond of... the glory of that new bit of information acquired and what implications it had on the world.. the high of doing something of your own.. talking for hours and hours about it to people who exactly know its value... i mean, yeah... my notions would sound sooooo utopian, but that is what it is supposed to be now, isnt it...??

Wish, someday we'll like exams... alas.. doesn't seem so for my generation..!!

Pay back time

Life is too precious to be wasted,
When good things come to an end,
And Time refuses to stop and be tested,
You want to finish as a legend...

But this world is very harsh,
Pays you back for whatever you've done,
Pays you enough to die with a crash,
Pays back to each and everyone...

Its never too late to look back,
Its never the last goodbye,
Let your life not be white or black,
Every moment let the colours fly...

We're not living at crossroads,
Cuz in the end, all destinations are the same,
Let the journey be beautiful,
Thus when death knocks, Life will be full...

Second Chances...

Picking up from where we left,
One shut door and an open theft,
You touched me like no one else,
Still my heart has ringing bells...

The End was yet another begining,
Existence without you is no living,
In you I find my recluse,
Getting back together is just an excuse...

Loose ends however need to be tied,
Honesty I want, No more being lied,
Forgiving someone, is very tough,
Doing it once is more than enough...

Second chances are rare and very few,
Lets start afresh, let mistakes be new...

Moving On...

The distances between us are too many,
The bridges that join us, too few.
We tried hard, but it wasn't enough,
We did have an idea, some clue...

I miss your eyes looking into mine,
I miss your smile, so divine,
I miss your lips, and the following bliss,
I miss your face and the warm embrace...

This life seems incomplete now,
But survival is manageable somehow,
Learning to live without you is rough,
Having to 'unlove' you is tough...

Its been sometime since we broke up,
About time you & I buck up,
Moving On is something I yearn...
You move ahead, and thus I'll learn...
